Drive In Restaurant in Sedro-Woolley, Washington

Phyates Ice Cream opened in June 1948 and was originally a Dairy Queen. Several owners later and with the addition of burgers, it was called Sedro Woolley Drive In. In 1964 Hal Carter bought the drive in, named it Hal's Drive In, and created the menu that is still used today. His original recipes for the hamburger sauce, (he named the "goop") and his "famous tartar sauce" have remained with the restaurant. Present owners, Bob Anderson and Cheerie Carr purchased the restaurant in 1993 after selling their food concession trailers where for six years they cooked up hamburgers and curly fries at street fairs, festivals and many more venues. Bob and Cheerie have kept all of Hal Carter's original recipes while adding even more options for their customers to enjoy.
